Create a Coinbase account in a few easy steps

Before you are able to create an account there are a few requirements asked of you.

A minimum age of 18
A computer or smartphone with internet
A government-issued photo ID (Coinbase does not accept passport cards)
A phone number connected to your smartphone (2-step verification)
The latest version of your browser (we recommend Chrome), or the latest Coinbase App version. If you’re using the Coinbase app, make sure your phone’s operating system is up-to-date.

Step #1 - Register your account

Navigate to the Sign-up page on www.coinbase.com via your desktop or mobile phone.
(Press the ‘Get started’ button)

The following information will be asked from you. Make sure to fill in the correct information:

Legal full name (This will be verified later)
Email address (make sure you have access to the email)
Password (store this somewhere to make sure you can recover it)

1. Read the user agreements and privacy policy

2. Check the box and hit the sign up/create account button (An email verification will be sent to your email)

3. Click ‘verify email address’ inside the email that you’ve been sent from Coinbase (Email will always be from no-reply@coinbase.com).

If the email does not appear in your inbox make sure to check your spam folder or any other folders that filter incoming messages from you mailbox

Step #2 - Verify phone number

You have now registered and validated your Coinbase account. Now you’re set up for connecting your mobile phone with your account to complete 2-FA verification.

1. Sign into Coinbase, you will be asked to add a phone number

2. Select your country and enter your phone number

3. Click send code/continue (a 7-digit SMS code will be texted to the used phone number)

4. Fill in the code you have received in Coinbase

Once this is completed you have added 2-FA authentication to your account, this provides extra security to your account. Now you are asked to verify your personal information.

Step #3 - Verify Personal info

You can do this by making a picture of the front of your ID-card, make sure the following things are visible:

First & last name
Date of birth
Address

Next you’ll be asked to answer the following questions:

What do you use Coinbase for?
What is your source of funds?
What is your current occupation
Current employer
Last 4 digits of SSN

Hit continue to verify your personal information. Almost there, now all that’s left is to link a payment method to your account.
