Verge

What is Verge?

Verge is a cryptocurrency designed to be used in everyday life. Verge has many improvements compared to the original Bitcoin blockchain & is aiming to its purpose of providing individuals and business companies with an effective, fast and decentralized way of making instant transactions.

Verge currency is proud to be a 100% open-source project. The movement is run entirely by volunteer community members and dedicated individuals who wish to make a difference in the world.

How to buy XVG?

You can buy XVG in many ways and on many different platforms. Some of the more commonly platforms with a wide range of payment options are:

You will first have to verify your identity and deposit money with one of the provided payment options. Then you can trade you currency for bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

What is Verge’ mission?

Verge’ mission is to empower people around the world by introducing blockchain transactions into everyday life. Verge has made it possible to engage in transactions in a quick, efficient and secure way. This allows businesses as well as individuals to have a flexible option for sending and receiving payments all across the world in only a matter of seconds.

When was Verge founded?

Verge was created in 2014 under the name DogeCoinDark by a developper called ‘Sunerok’, till today still no one knows his true identity. Only his pseudonym is known just like the Bitcoin creator ‘’Satoshi Nakamoto’‘

In 2016 the project was rebranded to Verge Currency.

Verge potential

Understanding the potential of Verge may be a slightly difficult task, because like Verge there are other blockchains who also offer privacy, think of Monero & Zcash. Monero even outperforms Verge’ privacy ! With that being said, Verge only costs about 0.01 XVG per transaction, this is basically a free of charge transaction.

Verge focuses on anonymity and hiding user IP addresses which causes transactions to be completely untraceable. An IP address is the long string of numbers assigned to every device or computer that connects to the internet, having an IP address makes it possible for others to trace your online activities that have been performed on the connected device.

Verge ensures its anonymity by making use of multiple anonymity-centric networks. The Onion Router (TOR) and Invisible Internet Project (I2P). TOR protects identities by forwarding their communications over a distributed network of tunnels and relays spread across the globe run by volunteers.  Unlike Monero and other various privacy coins that rely on cryptography techniques and implementation, Verge rather banks on the existing and tested technology of TOR and I2P network to achieve its goals of protecting user identities.

Pros

  • Offers anonymous transactions

  • Transactions are lightning fast

  • Very scalable

  • Transactions are (almost) free

Cons

  • Not as private as some other privacyfocussed cryptocurrencies

  • Associated with the Dark Web & illegal activities

Something worth mentioning

  • The anonymity of Verge was the main reason for an adult website network to start accepting cryptocurrency payments exclusively in the Verge cryptocurrency back in 2018.
